My Story
My name is Adam, I'm an acting coach with nearly 20 years of teaching experience. As an actor, I trained across the UK in Newcastle, Buckinghamshire and eventually London at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.

Whilst I was at Central, they (and I) knew, I was bound to be a teacher. I love the rehearsal room, I love playing, creating, trying out things that work, and equally things that don't. So I set about on my teaching career, working in Universities, Colleges, Drama Schools and Conservatoires in Newcastle, London and Leeds.

Alongside my academic teaching career, I developed a huge love and respect for the Meisner Technique, training initially with Scott Williams and the Impulse Company. I co-founded Both Feet Actor Training with the amazing Stephanie Morgan, and refined my teaching practice over decades or trial and error, plus a multitude of incredible students who put their faith in me to help them achieve their dreams.
Currently, I'm Deputy Head of the School of Drama at Leeds Conservatoire. Alongside Patsy Gilbert and Erin Carter we built a Drama School within a Music Conservatoire (Then Leeds College of Music) and in the year it launched, Covid-19 hit. Cue endless hours of problem solving, re-writing, supporting, weeping, and we're still going strong.
Whilst at Leeds Conservatoire, I've found I've become challenged to grow as a leader and look at aspects of actor-training that simply, aren't actor-training. Building a culture, developing resilience, grit, becoming comfortable with vulnerability, all of which led me on a deep dive of experts in those fields. I have listened to or read so many works by people and thought 'you're an acting teacher! You just don't know it'. And that drove me to create Secret Acting Teachers.

My aim is to share ideas from amazing minds about aspects of being an open, brave and vulnerable human that might help you either as an actor in training, or as a working professional either in the act of acting itself, navigating the acting industry, or managing yourself within this artistic world.
Here to listen, here to share, please join me.
Adam
